THE NEW WORLD FOR POST SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Introduction

Dear students, I congratulate you as you are graduating today. I wish you more success in your pursuit. You are now grown up boys and girls. You have from today escape the cane of Mr. and Mrs. Kogberegbe of your school. You have come and witness the world of secondary school. Can you remember the day you went for your Common Entrance Examination? Can you remember your first day in secondary school? All just like yesterday! Hmmn…, you are leaving secondary school today. You are going to a new world. As you are sitting down right now, you are aiming different world in your mind. Let us take the analysis of those worlds in my little speech.

Fantasy World

This is the world that most of you are dreaming of. You think of wearing the types of clothes you wish, the types of shoes you wish, the types of phones you wish. You think of holding remote control of your DVD and Plasma TV and watch the afore-dreaming season films. You now think of having a better time to spend of social media with that girl you think of wooing and that guy you think of dating. You now think of becoming your true imaginary self; yourself you made from the imagination of films and reading of romance text. My guy, I smile for you. If you think of finding yourself in such of this world, I am very sorry to tell you that you are dreaming to live a fake life; a life that that will soon leave you. A fantasy world is nothing than imagination or dream. It may be late before you wake up from such life.

Try Again Later World

I think you in this world know yourselves? You are those who have one or two deficiencies in your results, you are among those who failed UTME, You are among those who have problem(s) with POST UTME exam. Your mates easily get admission into any of the higher institution that their result fit but as you are trying your best, the response you are having is that ‘Please, try again later’. That is not the end of the life. Just keep trying. Most of those who are successful in life just keep trying again later. You are only a failure when you lose hope in the path you are pursuing.

Next Level World

Okay, you easily gain admission? You have cleared your result when you are in SSS2? You have written the last UTME and you scored higher score? No doubt, you are much certain of becoming a university student in the next academic session? Lols, you now feel of moving to the next level and you look down on those who have not gain admission. Well, that is what I wish for you but, you must be careful! Never look down on those who have not gain admission yet. I wish you to understand that it is not about who come in first, but it is about who finishes first. So do not see that next level as a big deal. You must just keep moving.

Freedom World

OMG! You have graduated from secondary school? That is great of you! You are now totally free. You will soon travel out of your town and have a total time to go to where you wish. You can keep late at night as you wish and engage in all fun as you wish? I have a question for you. Have you ever seen an old man? Ask him to tell you what he has missed during his youthful period. If you misuse today’s freedom, you will be in today’s prison tomorrow.

A Focused World

My dear, you have a dream of becoming big in your pursuit? You are that type of a disciplined child? You do not fancy the above worlds? Very good! I just wish you to realize that you have many hurdles to face in your pursuit. With your focus, you will reach where you dream to reach. Bear in mind that some diversion will come your ways, don’t give them attention, keep on, you will soon reach where you think to reach. I remember a poem I published on my blog this year, please listen to the poem and reason to it. I titled it Think beyond what You See;

A man who sees an elephant,
And thinks of seeing an animal,
Has limited is vision;
He should have visioned
A basket full of money

A man who sees a new model jeep
And think of its worth
Has limited his vision:
He should have think on how to get a job
That brings income more than such a jeep

A man who sees a beautiful woman
And worships her beauty
Has limited her future:
He should have think of how to raise a daughter
That will employ her as a secretary

If you are in a classroom,
Think beyond the four walls...
Imagine yourself as a chief executive officer
And works towards achieving that.
That is when you form a vision

Building your future
Starts from interpreting your views,
Achieving your vision
Starts from practicalising your thoughts
Think beyond what you see

So dear, think beyond the physical hurdles you see when you are trying to achieve your focus

Parents Concern

Dear parents, do not think that these children are already grown up; they are free to do and undo. No doubt, they are grown up, but they really need you. Do not scold at them; speak with them like your best friend. Advise them often and remember them in your prayer.

Let them learn a skillful job or teach them the art of business. The total hours they are going to spend on social media is enough for them to learn skills that will be useful for them in future

Do Not Be Like…

Do not be like that man who slaughtered her only she-goat when he has no food to eat, he used the planks of his house to cook when he has no fire wood to cook and he battered her only daughter for money when he was in a great debt. A single sentence that describe such man better is a man with no future.
